Agent Orange and the Fort McClellan Connection

Many Veterans of the Vietnam War are now applying for benefits for presumption of service connected diseases related to their service being exposed to agent orange. This is due to the VA announcing on 3/9/2010 a aggressive initiative to solicit private sector input on a proposed fast track for Veterans claims for illnesses due to agent orange. At the time they expected 200,000 claims and a average of 90 days to process the claim.

Agent Orange effects linger in Vietnam

1
The Vietnam War is a sore spot in the memories of many American citizens. From 1955 to 1975, the United States found itself entrenched in a war of unrecognizable proportions. Due to the unprecedented tactical disadvantages faced by American soldiers, action had to be taken to level the playing field, ultimately crippling the guerrilla warfare tactics held by members of the Vietnamese military. The solution? Agent Orange, an herbicidal chemical extensively used to eradicate jungle flora throughout the Vietnamese countryside. Often used at levels upwards of 50 times the recommended usage, Agent Orange decimated fields and jungles alike.

Letters Home from Vietnam – Chapter 6, Four Dead in Ohio

Bullet riddled planes are returning to base at an alarming rate. Until now the planes have returned without incident but whatever is happening out there it seems to be heating up. I’ve also been talking to guys that are flying the gunships and they too are catching more ground fire. Some of the Marines are leaving and the Vietnamese Army is starting to take over some of the guard post positions. Is it possible that the war is drawing to a close? But how could that be when our planes are taking more ground fire? I’m getting more confused about the war as well as my participation in it.

Nixon Cabinet Member Fired over Vietnam War and Protesters Dies

Walter J. Hickel, twice Alaska's governor and an Interior secretary fired by President Richard Nixon after objecting to the treatment of Vietnam War protesters, died Friday. He was 90. Hickel died of natural causes at Horizon House, an assisted living facility in Anchorage, according to longtime Hickel assistant Malcolm Roberts. Hickel was dismissed from his Interior post in late 1970, several months after he wrote Nixon a letter critical of the president's handling of student protests following the National Guard shootings at Kent State and the U.S. invasion of Cambodia.

Raksmey, one of the drivers who sleeps in his motoremorque, drove me out there early in the morning.

GORDON DUFF: Is Vietnams Dirty Little Secret True for our...

45
Gordon Duff, VT senior editor explores lying about the Vietnam War as a way of life. When some of those who "served" in Vietnam became old enough to gain power, hiding much of the truth of the war was critical to keep questions down. Everything bad in Vietnam was blamed on minorities, "bad eggs" and draftees. This is total hogwash. Vietnam was our most corrupt war in history with a Mafia within our military stealing, not millions, but billions in food, weapons, uniforms, supplies of every kind, often leaving troops in the field without food, weapons, medicine and supplies.
