Military Veteran Service Organizations (VSO’s) tout themselves as advocates for Veterans, but all that glitters is certainly not gold and all that needs to be heard is rarely told.

- What surprised me this year is that senior Special Forces, many of whom live in the Southwest, now say they are voting Obama.

There are 10,000 members of the American Legion in Los Angeles County and 20,000 homeless Veterans in Los Angeles County. Outnumbered 2-to-1, the American Legion still chooses to side with VA land policies that keep our homeless and disadvantaged Veterans from living in their rightful and legal “Home.”

The indictment alleges Warren K. Parker, 69, Blue Springs, Mo., obtained more than $6 million in federal contracts, in part by falsely claiming to have a service-connected disability. The contracts were awarded under the Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Program.

I always admired the American Legion while growing up on a farm in central Indiana. Maybe it was just the good old Hoosier upbringing and patriotism of Legionnaires, but they were always admired and considered honorable Veterans and Citizens.

Veteran Service Organizationn need to publish the list of 130 military bases on the EPA Superfund list to their membership. Most veterans have no idea that bases they served on are now EPA Superfund sites. A number may have been exposed to deadly contaminants, are now sick, and have never connected the dots to military service. These men and women need to know what chemcials they were exposed to so their doctors can provide an effective treatment plan. Keeping them in the dark is definitely not helpful.

Mike Hamilton of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was convicted recently of violating the "Stolen Valor Act." Hamilton's Marine uniform sported 2 Navy Crosses, 4 Silver stars along with 74 other medals and ribbons. When the Supreme Court overturned the "Stolen Valor Act" as unconstitutional, a violation of "freedom of speech," Hamilton's conviction was overturned. He currently faces charges for other violations, perhaps even more curious ones, but Hamilton himself isn't the problem. There are some serious questions as to whether "Colonel" Hamilton is competent to stand trial. Today, veterans groups are swooping around Mike Hamilton like vultures, looking for a meal. A few short months ago, he was the darling of the "rubber chicken" circuit, spouting the myths they wanted to hear, waving the flag and cheering on the horse manure of that is so popular to the American "right."
