RELUCTANT APOLOGIES EXPECTED FROM RACIST POLITICAL PARTY

This is a “political art” created by the Republican Party and distributed over the internet, most recently by an Orange Country elected official named Marilyn Davenport. When the fact that her racist email was also forwarded to the press was told to her, she wanted to have the perpetrator arrested.
She considered this worse than Wikileaks and was looking for the “Bradley Manning” that she said had “betrayed” her.
Calling this depiction ugly racism is an understatement. Calling for the immediate removal of Marilyn Davenport is an understatement also. However, nothing is likely to be done as, you see, in Orange County, California, something like this is considered “honest humor.”
Orange County, California is wealthy, white and conservative. It is also one of the most bigoted places on earth. Marilyn Davenport is now considered a hero.
And, as for her guilt, she didn’t create the email nor did she create the “political art.” The Republican Party did.
As a 25 year member of the Republican National Committee, I have been subjected to more than a bit of racist chatter. As a party political strategist, typical “country club” get togethers would be continually diced with “person of color” this and “jew/kike” that.
Some were silently embarrassed, I could see that. Many, maybe most became enthusiastically animated at the use of these racist insults. This “brotherhood” of ignorant racist bigots isn’t just pickup truck driving southerners. These are law degrees, MBA’s, memberships in the US Chamber of Commerce, the National Rifle Association and National Association of Manufacturers.
These were millionaires.
This was the party leadership, people who sat with both the Bush presidents, people who autographed photographs of Ronald Reagan behind their desks.
This is the simple truth of it.
When you hear figures telling you that most Republicans believe President Obama was born in Kenya, it goes much further.
“Birther” is a “code word.” Its politics predate the ‘neocon.’ They go right back to the eugenics movement, the real birthplace of “conservatism.” They go right back to Nazi Germany and the belief that those of Northern European ancestry are the only real humans.
Everyone else is an “ape” of sorts.
The email with the photo you see above is only one of dozens I receive each week. I check where they come from. Most that I receive originate from Republican political groups or veterans organizations. No attempt is made to hide it.
The “political art” traces back to groups tied to the Heritage Organization and American Enterprise Institute.

I always answer with something unpleasant. It would be illegal to drive across country and beat the living hell out of the worthless racist bastards though it would make me feel alot better.
