Gulf War 1990-1991 Veteran Deaths

Gulf War Veteran Deaths for First Week of November 2010.

Six Gulf War Veterans 1990-1991 died in the first week of November. Their ages were 44, 48, 54(2), 61, and one age not known.  Four were Army Veterans and 2 were Navy veterans.  One had previous service in Air Force and one previous service Marines.  One was a veteran of Vietnam service and one had served in the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We honor them and their survivors by remembering them.  We hope that if they had illnesses since the time of their service in the Gulf War 1990-91, that these illnesses are documented.  They definitely have died an early death.  The government will honor them more if they fully declassified all records from the Gulf War 1990-91.  The Gulf War 1990-91 was a war of environmental hazardous exposure soups.  These veterans and their families need to be honored and remembered and action taken so that lessons are learned for our country.

Help for their fellow veterans after 20 years is sorely absent.  How many more will die before the truth is fully known by their families, loved ones, fellow veterans, and the American public?  How many elected officials will step forward to correct these wrongs and honor the veterans of Desert Shield/Desert Storm/Gulf War 1990-91?  We ask for a National Registry for Gulf War Veterans 1990-91 to be established by law to list those that have died by name, age, unit, and cause of death and to list veterans that are still alive but suffering from Gulf War illnesses or any diagnosed illness so that medical care givers and researchers can truly help the veterans of the Gulf War 1990-91.  The gulf war veterans are  asking for our health, dignity, truth, and transparency!

2. Wayne W. Scott Sr,54,He was a nuclear medicine PET-CT technologist, an Army veteran of Desert Storm, York

3.  LTC (R) James Rivera, 54, of Coal Valley, Illinois, formerly of San Antonio, Texas, a decorated Army Veteran.  He retired January 1, 2010, after serving 34 years in the U.S. Military, 6 years in the Air Force and 28 years in the U.S. Army. He served in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Desert Storm. He received, among many other honors and awards, the Legion of Merit, three Bronze Stars, Meritorious Service Medal, Army and Air Force Commendation Medals, and several battle and campaign medals.  Died at home.

4.  Normand A. Roberge, 61,a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps and later serving in the Army Reserve during Operation Desert Storm.  Died at home, Cancer?

5.  (CW4) Deacon Benjamin F. Thomas, Jr,  A veteran of the US Army, he was a 1st Lieutenant, commissioned officer and pilot. He served in Desert Storm and the Iraqi War and he piloted the distinguished “Apache” aircraft and held the highest ranks among Chief Warrant Officers

6.  BORGHERO, STEVEN 48, a proud veteran of the US Navy serving in the Persian Gulf War.NJ

Shawn Patrick “Bocephus” Quincel
“Bocephus” AUGUSTA, Ga. – Shawn Patrick “Bocephus” Quincel, 44, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during Desert Storm and the Cold War. Shawn is survived by his wife, Tonya Blackstone; daughters, Danielle Landis, Coralee Quincel, Krista Renee Quincel, and Lara Ann Quincel; granddaughters, Savannah Lynn Landis and Molly Lee Landis; parents, Larry and Barbara Quincel; sister, Tammy Quincel Mace; nephew, James Earl Mace, Sr.; niece, Samantha Mace; and great nephew, James Earl Mace, Jr. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Lumpkin Road Chapel with Pastor Randall Etterlee officiating. Interment will be 2:30p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA. Pallbearers will be James Earl Mace, Sr., James Mace, Mark Landis, Raymond Fredericks, Jimmy Blackstone, and Norman Smith. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. DALLASTOWN Wayne W. Scott, Sr., 54, died at 8:29 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Susan K. (Fry) Scott, with whom he celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on October 8, 2010. Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Otterbein U.M. Church of Spry, 50 School St. in Spry, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Kenneth M. Loyer, officiating. Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Scott was born July 3, 1956, in Chelsea, Mass., and was the son of Ruth C. (Dickson) Scott of York and the late James W. Scott. He was a nuclear medicine PET-CT technologist, an Army veteran of Desert Storm, a member of Otterbein U.M. James Rivera
RIVERA
LTC (R) James Rivera, 54, of Coal Valley, Illinois, formerly of San Antonio, Texas, a decorated Army Veteran, died Monday, November 1, 2010, in his home. Jim was born July 12, 1956, in Manhattan, New York, the son of Alvin and Carmen Montes Rivera. He married Barbara Bruce Robinson on June 12, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He retired January 1, 2010, after serving 34 years in the U.S. Military, 6 years in the Air Force and 28 years in the U.S. Army. In his long and distinguished career, he served in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Desert Storm. He received, among many other honors and awards, the Legion of Merit, three Bronze Stars, Meritorious Service Medal, Army and Air Force Commendation Medals, and several battle and campaign medals. Since retiring, he has been a Senior Defense Analyst for Coker Logistics Solutions at the Rock Island Arsenal. He loved his, dog Bella and his Goldwing and was a proud member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara; his mother and step-father, Carmen and Jim Thomas of Armargosa Valley, Nevada; his father, Alvin Rivera of Chula Vista, California; three Children and their spouses, Christina Marie Rivera, James and Amber Rivera, and Jason and Bailey Rivera, all of Henderson, Nevada; three step-children and a spouse, Maranda Carreon of San Antonio, Texas; Adam and Amber Robinson of Little Elm, Texas; and Aaron Robinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Jennifer Rivera of Lunenburg, Massachusetts; and a sister, Roxanna Rivera of Pahrump, Nevada. Normand A. Roberge
Normand A. Roberge September 5, 1949 – November 5, 2010 East Killingly – Normand A. Roberge, 61, of Burlingame Road, died Friday at home. He was the husband of Beatrice (Mathurin) Roberge. They were married June 7, 1969. He was born in Putnam on September 5, 1949, son of the late Armand J. and Pauline M. (Tetreault) Roberge. Mr. Roberge was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps and later serving in the Army Reserve during Operation Desert Storm. He worked at American White Cross in Dayville for 18 years and most recently for International Paper. He was a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson, member of the VFW Post #1523 in Putnam, member of the Knights of Columbus and the Danielson Lodge of Elks #1706. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Melissa A. Cacciapuoti and husband Joseph T. Cacciapuoti of Dayville and Brian J. Roberge of Norman, OK; two sisters, Rita Laberge and husband Robert of Woonsocket, RI and Irene Ondrasek and husband John of Webster, MA; four grandchildren, Jocelyn, Johnathan, Faith-Ann and Aaron (AJ) and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Church, Danielson. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson with Full Military Honors. There are no calling hours. COLUMBIA – A Homegoing Service Celebrating the Life of (CW4) Deacon Benjamin F. Thomas, Jr. will be held 2:00p.m. Sunday at Bible Way, Church with burial 2pm at Fort Jackson Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 8th.

Mr. Thomas passed on November 3, 2010. Born in Aiken South Carolina, he was the son of Benjamin Thomas, Sr and the late Annie D. Thomas. A veteran of the US Army, he was a 1st Lieutenant, commissioned officer and pilot. He served in Desert Storm and the Iraqi War and he piloted the distinguished “Apache” aircraft and held the highest ranks among Chief Warrant Officers. He was faithful and dedicated member of Bible Way Church of Atlas Road where he served as Deacon and on the Music Ministry.

He is survived by his spouse, Carmen B. Thomas; children, Pvt. 1st Class Corey J. Thomas and Miles J. BORGHERO, STEVEN 48 – of Egg Harbor Twp., formerly of Gloucester City. Beloved son of Frank P. Borghero, Sr. and the late Ilka Lillian. Devoted father of Sgt.
