Veterans Honor Desert Storm Veterans’ Deaths

I have the files for missing months and will be posting them in memory as I can catch up.  My apologies but this is a difficult duty to perform but I and others have not forgotten them.  WE wonder if the VA can be sure these veterans deaths are COUNTED AND ACKNOWLEDGED!  It has been twenty years but we are dying each month.  We live each day with Gulf War illness but we will not give up on getting the Ground Truth and push to get proper diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate compensation.  We pray that their survivors receive DIC benefits.  WE pray that their service will be honored and their survivors and children welcomed into the community of survivors of military service and their wounds healed by that welcome.

Five Deaths of Desert Storm Veterans since first of the month October 2010.  Ages 39,43,48,59,61. USN, USAR, USA, USAF One multi war veteran Vietnam and Gulf War Combat Engineer and one nurse.

WE Remember all of them as they pass too young.

Winchell, 61, USA, Vietnam(2) and Gulf War(Desert Storm), Combat Engineer, Platoon Sgt, Senior Engineering Instructor at the Non Commissioned Officer’s Academy for construction, mobility/counter-mobility, bridge construction and senior demolition’s expert as a Sergeant First Class, and received his engineering degree.  After his military career in 1993 ended he worked as a geotechnical technician in the southern states and retired as a Dept. of Defense (U.S. Army) manager in Texas and Oklahoma in 2010. John F. (Johnnie) Calvert Jr.   |  

CALVERT, John F. Jr. (Johnnie) of West Branch, Michigan. Mr. Calvert age, 48 passed away unexpectedly Friday October 1, 2010 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 22, 1962 in Sault St. Marie, Michigan to Johnnie F. Sr. & Charlotte (Hopkins) Calvert they survive him. He served his county in the United States Navy during Desert Storm. Surviving beside his parents is his two sisters Kelly (Henry) Herman and Jessica Wheeler, several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday October 5, 2010 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Nicholas F. Coffaro presiding with inurnment in St. Anne Cemetery. Graveside services under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the families wishes.

Marcia Rene Murray   |   

Marcia Rene Murray, 59 of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday in her home. Ms Murray was veteran of Desert Storm, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corp.
She had been employed as a licensed practical nurse.
She was born March 26, 1951, in Springfield, a daughter of Adrian and Wannalea Hollingsworth Murray.
Survivors include her parents of Ash Grove; one son, Scott Maslar of Ash Grove; two sisters, Mary Murray of Washington, D.C., and Traci Williams of Ash Grove; 2 two granddaughters, McKale and Scyla Maslar both of Branson; and two nephews, Jay Williams and Justin (Ronesa) Williams both of Ash Grove.
Friends may call at the Wilson Brim Daniel Chapel in Ash Grove from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ash Grove Cemetery with Rev. Harold McMasters officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow.
Services are in the care of Wilson Brim Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove, Mo.

KaSandra Lichelle Greene  
MANSFIELD: KaSandra Lichelle Greene, 39, of 417 Dale Ave. died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus after an extended illness.
Miss Greene was born August 30, 1971 to the late Joseph Winston Greene and Candace Lynn Atwater Greene in Mansfield. She lived in Columbus for a number of years employed with the downtown Holiday Inn as a supervisor prior to working with the Columbus Convention Center. Kasey was a member of the National Army Reserves being deployed during the Gulf War, and the New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church.
Kasey is survived by her mother, Candace Greene, Mansfield with whom she made her home; two daughters, Destini Crosby, Mansfield, and Kandace Brown, Columbus; one son, Killian Pender, Mansfield; three brothers, Joseph D. Greene, Marion, Aaron McKnight, Mansfield, and Kyle W. Greene, Virginia Beach, Virginia; three aunts, Anita Davis, Melinda Clemons, and Patricia McKinney, all of Mansfield; two uncles, Frederick Atwater, Jr., San Antonio, Texas, and Gene Greene, Mansfield; special cousin, Sonia Journigan, Columbus; and two special friends, Regina Harris, Mansfield, and Andrew Jordan, Columbus.
Friends may call Friday after 2 in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where the family will receive friends from 6-8. Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Minister Tillman Franklin of the Latter Rain COGIC delivering the eulogy and Minister Robin Granger of New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery with military services by the Joint Veterans Council will be held at graveside.

LeClerc, John Richard BALLSTON LAKE John Richard LeClerc, 43 of Hills Rd. in Ballston Lake died on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Saratoga Hospital. He was born in Agawam, Mass. the son of William and Judy Hogan LeClerc. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Gulf War being honorably discharged as a Senior Airman. He was currently working for the New York State Office of Mental Health at the Capital District Psychiatric Center in Albany. John was an active and devoted member of the Round Lake Fire Dept. He enjoyed working with computers and had a love for cats. He was a member of the Argyle United Methodist Church. He is the beloved husband of Janis C. Ramsey LeClerc, whom he married on May 11, 1988. Devoted father of Bryan M. LeClerc and Stephanie A. LeClerc, both of Ballston Lake; brother of Kevin LeClerc and Laury Frazier; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held Friday morning at 10:30 from the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 in Clifton Park. Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Round Lake Fire Department, 13 Curry Rd., Round Lake, NY 12151.

Charles H. Winchell 1949-2010 PITTSFIELD “Charlie” born to Charlie and Norma-Foley-Winchell in Pittsfield. He attended local schools and graduated Pittsfield High School in 1968. He entered the U.S. Army in 1969 as a Combat Engineer where he served 3 combat tours in Viet-Nam as a Platoon Sergeant, and he worked local construction in Pittsfield after his tour of duty. Charlie re-entered the Army Combat Engineers in 1979 and served 2 combat tours in the Gulf War and at worldwide assignments with Combat Engineer Brigades as a Platoon Sergeant. Later in his Military career he served as a Senior Engineering Instructor at the Non Commissioned Officer’s Academy for construction, mobility/counter-mobility, bridge construction and senior demolition’s expert as a Sergeant First Class, and received his engineering degree. He received numerous decorations, awards, and achievements. After his military career in 1993 ended he worked as a geotechnical technician in the southern states and retired as a Dept. of Defense (U.S. Army) manager in Texas and Oklahoma in 2010. Charlie was a Red Sox, Yankees & Celtics fan and an avid golfer. He was a member of the Army Engineer Regiment, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Federal Manager Association, Disabled Americans Veterans, and the United States Golf Association. Charlie’s Family is Connie and Alyssa daughter and granddaughter, Rick, Courtney and Londyn son, wife and granddaughter all of Texas and sister Darlene and Pete Steiner of Mass. And brother Steve and Rennetta of Arizona. Charlie loved and cherished his families and was proud of all their accomplishments. He will be interred at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Army Honors.
