Where are all the vets?
A job-training program to help veterans 35 to 60 re-enter the workforce is going begging for participants.
More than 60,000 slots remain unfilled for the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program. It covers training costs for high-demand jobs at local community or technical colleges.

NATO appears to be lining up its ducks to keep troops in Afghanistan well after the erstwhile pullout date of 2014
In recent weeks, U.S. commanders have called for a 10,000-troop force to stay after next year. Now Germany is offering to base nearly 1,000 soldiers there for two-years starting in 2015.
Possible game-changer in Syria
In March, President Obama warned the use of chemical weapons in Syria’s civil war might trigger U.S. military intervention.
Mounting press reports and purported British intelligence now suggest gas bombs were used against the population there.
The Syrian government has blocked the UN from investigating the alleged use of nerve agents on at least three occasions.
