Play Golf in California and Raise Funds For War Veterans

VetFund will be raising money for CA veterans at a golf tournament May 18th 2007The California Department of Veterans Affairs will be holding the VetFund Golf Tournament in Southern California to raise money for Veterans Programs Friday, May 18th in Ventura.

There are many Memorial Day events, but very few actually give back to our veterans. ALL contributions to VetFund are used to fund projects for California Veterans. Contributions are a gift to the state of California and are tax deductible.

The money raised will be used for:

• Recreational activities for veterans at the homes

• Therapy pools that are badly needed in Barstow and Chula Vista to provide for special needs of the veteran, and future programs for Alzheimer’s Care…

     

olmap_400• The first major project of the VetFund is the creation of a facility at the Veterans Home in Yountville for returning veterans from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some of these young soldiers will require extra care upon their return, and CDVA plans to assist them and their families.

Examples of other needs for the Veterans Homes are:

• VetFund of CDVA is the fundraising arm of the California Department of Veterans Affairs and generates funds for projects to support California veterans. Fund are used to fulfill the unmet needs of the Veterans Homes of California, upkeep of veterans memorials, and to provide funding for special programs of the department and the veterans community.

• Upgrades and upkeep that is needed at the various veteran's memorials subsidies of Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day activities for veterans in support stand-downs, and other homeless veterans activities.

• A support program for veteran’s families while they are in Iraq, Afghanistan and other battle fields of the global war on terrorism, and other projects in support of the health and welfare of California’s veterans the home and in the general population.

$125 for the day includes:

• Deluxe lunch at 11:30 a.m.
• 18 holes of tournament golf
• Raffle
• Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place; Longest drive and closest to the pin
• 11:30 a.m. putting contest
• 12:30 p.m. shotgun start
• Golf awards after play

All contributions to the State of California are deductible as charitable contributions for federal tax purposes. Sponsorship packages and registration forms are available for this tournament.
