In what has got to be one of the strangest stories of the past few months coming out of Washington D.C., Michael Steele the Chairman of the Republican National Committee, is promoting his latest book on television and radio and claiming that the GOP is not positioning itself to win big in the 2010 election cycle. Who would know better than him? What is the purpose of shooting his Party in the foot? He thinks GOP leadership is weak and says so!
In the Washington Post tonight an article entitled Steele comments have GOP aides pleading, ‘Get him to stop’ tells this bizarre story of the guy at the top claiming insitutional weakness and lack of quality leadership prior to anyone campaigning for anything. And these are comments about his own poltical party! Wow!!
Once again, we seem to have a "celebrity", a "personality" at the head of a political party. This seems to be a problem on both sides of the aisle. Where have all the seasoned, knowledgeable, professional politicians gone in this country? Since when does political leadership mean going off to your own personal Idaho? What the hell is wrong with these guys?
But then, what do I know?
Here is an article from Politics Daily today entitled Newt Gingrich Defends Michael Steele, Warns Against ‘Inside-the-Party Cannibalism’ . Hmm!
