Bikers ride Chester County to raise money for veterans

A band of bikers headed out from the Kennett Square VFW Post 5467 on Saturday for the purpose of raising money for veterans.
Under sunny skies and warm temperatures, it was great weather for the riding, but underpinning the event was the concern that about 20 American veterans a day of the wars in Afghanistan and Middle East commit suicide.
VFW Commander Mike Pralle said this is the 10th annual run for the veterans sponsored by the group, and every penny raised goes for treatment, information distribution and telephone hotlines. Equally concerning about the suicides, he said, is the fact that many more veterans who don’t die are living painful lives with post-traumatic stress disorder from the combat. Just recently, he added, a veteran of the Afghanistan conflict from Kennett Square took his own life.
