Jackson County Animal Shelter to give veterans free pets

The Jackson County Animal Shelter is hosting a free adoption program, “Pets for Veterans,” July 25 through Aug. 6.
Friends of the Animals for the Jackson Area, Inc., is running the event with the shelter at 3370 Spring Arbor Road.
The program, started in 2013, matches dogs and cats to local veterans, according to a Friends of the Animals press release.
The shelter’s staff will help in matching pets behaviorally with the kind of furry friend the veterans are looking for, according to the reléase.
