A new or immediate need for a prescription may be picked up at the pharmacy window at your VA health facility.
The VA mail order pharmacy dispenses and sends renewed or refilled prescriptions directly to your address on file with the VA. Most of the prescriptions that you get from the VA will be sent to you by the VA mail order pharmacy.
Veterans can now track the status of most of their prescriptions online thanks to an innovative idea by a Department of Veterans Affairs employee. The new 24/7 service allows online tracking for most prescriptions mailed from the VA mail order pharmacy.
More than 57,000 veterans are currently using this service through My HealtheVet, an online feature that allows veterans to partner with their health care team. The number is expected to grow as VA starts to educate veterans about this new feature. Later this month, the tracking feature will include images of medications that are dispensed. Over the next year, a secure messaging alert will be added so that the veterans know when a medication is actually in the mail.
