Lawmakers help Alamo Colleges’ veterans program

Alamo Colleges is proud to serve more veterans than any other community college system in Texas. It’s an honor that we do not take lightly.
We have always endeavored to be on the forefront of providing resources for veterans and their families.
One of the most difficult times for veterans is their initial separation from the military. After leaving a career of purpose, duty and respect, it can be difficult to navigate the challenges they face in the civilian world.
At Alamo Colleges, we recognize that, for many, attending a community college is a natural next step during that transition.
To help student veterans with the transition to civilian life and college, we have built transformative veterans support centers at several of our institutions. However, we have been so successful in enrolling veterans that we have outgrown these centers.
