Havana, SANA-Assistant regional secretary of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party Hilal al-Hilal discussed on Wednesday with Member of Cuban Communist Party’s Central Committee Jose Ramon Balaguer the historic relations between Syria and Cuba, saying that Syria is defending the whole world.

“Friendly relations between the two countries extend throughout history and they have been featured by deepness and strength,” al-Hilal said, adding that these relations are being consolidated under the leadership of Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Raul Castro.

“In spite of 4-years of war and aggression on the country, Syria has been able, through its wise leadership, heroic army and people, to foil all plots and to defeat terrorism,” al-Hilal added.

Balaguer, for his part, affirmed that Cuba is following with big concern what is going on in Syria, saying that Cuba stands by Syria against the aggression and blockade.

“Cuba stands by Syria in the face of global war launched by Imperialism against the country,” Balaguer affirmed.

Al-Hilal laid a wreath on the monument of Cuba’s national hero Jose marti, touring his museum which includes a number of pictures and documents.
