The national unemployment rate for post-9/11 veterans in 2014 was 7.2 percent, the lowest rate recorded in the metric’s seven-year history. There is no veterans’ unemployment crisis.
What Miami-Dade County’s 60,000 veterans and the 1.5 million veterans in Florida need are employment opportunities.
The Disabled American Veterans and RecruitMilitary are hosting an All Veterans Job Fair Thursday at FIU’s Kovens Conference Center, 3000 NE 151st St., North Miami. It is open to area veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses.
More than 40 major employers are seeking veterans trained to be tireless leaders and unselfish team players. They recognize that the military is perhaps the best institution for teaching individuals highly sought-after qualities such as leadership, teamwork, mission orientation and integrity.
