Senator Grassley recognizes the outstanding military service of returning Iowa veterans and the challenges they can face after leaving military service.
Senator Grassley wants to offer an opportunity that taps into their civic-minded call to duty and helps veterans transition into their next chapter as private citizens. He would like to place two fellows in this program. The candidates will serve as a liaison with the veterans community in Iowa during the term of the fellowship.
The fellows will serve as community outreach officers between Iowa veterans and the senator’s office. The candidates can expect to meet with veterans and service organizations on the senator’s behalf, including visiting with County Veterans Service Officers, the National Guard, the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown and the federal Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals and clinics across the state.
