With 43 years of military experience, the new head of the Pennsylvania Department of Military Affairs and Veterans came into his job with a plan — strengthen the state’s National Guard and ensure veterans are getting the benefits they’ve earned.
Maj. General James Joseph has hit the ground running as the acting Adjunct General of the state’s Department of Military Affairs and Veterans. Joseph has begun meeting with people within the department and the Pennsylvania National Guard to fully understand the problems he is facing.
But with more than 40 years of military experience on both the state and national level, Joseph is aware of what needs to be fixed.
Joseph has served in a number of capacities including the assistant adjutant general for the Pennsylvania National Guard and the special assistant to the combatant commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
