The 9th edition of Mondial Spa & Beauté was held at La Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris March 15 -19, 2014. This magnificent place is very spacious and great for conventions and conferences because it has a good ambiance. Since the 19th century , it has been hosting conventions.
The Chinese delegate from Shangai visited the salon led by the vice president of the branch Beauté Bien être de Fuzhou accompanied by a professor of Chinese traditional medicine from the U. of Fuzhou, a group of students and an operator from the free zone of Shangai and heads of companies specialized in spa and new technologies.
First I registered and received a copy of Spa Beauté Magazine with the cover of the new eye shadow colors by Art Deco. I headed for their stand to be greeted by Myriane, the make up artist who did my make up last year at the Salon. She showed me the new colors based on the theme Jungle Fever, greens, blues, gold, violet, beige and tans, and then selected some for me. She also showed me their unique face bronzing spray which gives a natural tan.. Their line is sold exclusively in spas and beauty institutes.
Next I visited E -Swin because I read in Spa Beauté Magazine about E- Swin’s pulsing light system and was interested particularly in hair removal. “Today 500 beauty institutes in France have machines for permanent hair removal while there are a total of 2000 machines for hair removal in France and abroad. I knew about laser which kills the dark hair and electrolysis here in Paris which must be performed by a medical doctor , but I did not know about E-Swin’s new hair removal machine. It was invented by Yves Vincent Brottier, the founder of E-Swin. The company has light pulsation machines for photo rejeuvination, hair removal and eye dryness; E-Swin provides excellent customer support. If a machine malfunctions , there are first telephone consultation services. They then try to find a solution with a program and send it by e-mail for the buyer to transfer to a USB key that fits into the machine. There is a special hair removal machine that can be rented for home use. I met Cynthia Centre, the business coordinator who invited me to see the hair removal machine in Paris. She told me with the home machine, which is rented, you need more treatments. A new invention that are testing now is a machine for acne treatment.
How are E-Swin flash products different from competitors? The answer is very simple: They are very affordable and effective. Yves Vincent Brottier said his medical studies enabled him create products that are medically proven to work. The company’s related services e.g. billing, manufacturing, training, and customer service are all located in Paris.
When I visited Pina Parie, the nail care products company, Sandra welcomed me . I bought several nail polishes from them at different shows. At the show special discounted of 3 Euros for regular sized bottles customers were busy buying all the new shades and their favorite ones like red and orange. Their product range includes nail gels which are like nail polish but can last longer and Fusion, their combination of nail polishes and nail gels available in 58 shades. Pina Parie is based in Germany and sells to the spas.
Essie, the USA nail polish producer, had a large crowd at their booth. A special price of 15 Euros for a base, color of choice and top coat from their professional line was a good deal here in Europe. Their supermarket line costs much much less in USA where Essie is based. I asked them about this and they explained they have one line for professionals and another for retail stores. It costs about 12 Euros here in a supermarket for one bottle of their retail line of nail polish.
I also saw eyebrow plucking with threads. When I visited a very small mall in California I noticed an Indian lady perfoming this but did not think it was popular. It is an alternative to plucking with a tweezer or waxing.
There were many conferences about spas, beauty products including ways to promote business in the spas. The subjects included new trends, posture, antiage technologies and weight loss.
Professionals, the general public and students from schools came to learn and buy. The salon was both a learning experience and a buying experience.
