With hurricane season upon us and recent news about all the crazy wildfires in the western part of the country, it’s a great time to focus on what you can do as a business opportunity or other small business owner to protect your assets and everything you’ve worked so hard to build. Moreover, September is National Preparedness Month.
Here’s the thing though. Even if you are a successful or fairly new small business owner who thinks you have a viable plan in place to survive in the aftermath of a natural or some other disaster, chances are it’s not enough. In fact, according to recent findings by the Disaster Recovery Preparedness Council (DRP), nearly three in four companies worldwide are not prepared to an adequate degree to recover from a severe storm, flood, tornado, wildfire, hurricane or some other otherwise life-altering event.

That’s right, when it comes to disaster readiness, most small business opportunity and other small business owners earn a grade of “F” by DRP’s standards, and that’s far from encouraging. However, the good news is that there are some really great resources available to assist you in getting your grades up, even if it’s a relatively strong “C”. Let’s face it, more often than not there is always room for significant improvement, and disaster readiness is no exception.
That’s why the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and disaster recovery and business continuity services provider Agility Recovery, in collaboration with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), have joined forces to offer small business owners like you the chance to attend a FREE National Preparedness Month webinar series. Designed to help you avoid business interruption as well as its associated lost productivity and profits, each of the hour-long webinars will be presented at 2 p.m. EDT on three consecutive Wednesdays in September 2013 and will cover the following topics:
