Here’s Today’s Department of Defense Contract Awards

NAVY

Lockheed Martin Corp, Baltimore, Md., is being awarded a $33,649,198 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-11-C-2300) to exercise options for special studies, analyses, review and Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class services.  This effort will assess engineering and production challenges and evaluate the cost and schedule risks from affordability efforts to reduce LCS acquisition and lifecycle costs.  Work will be performed in Hampton, Va. (32 percent); Marinette, Wis. (27 percent); Moorestown, N.J. (22 percent); and Washington, D.C. (19 percent).  Work is expected to be complete by March 2013.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Austal USA, Mobile, Ala., is being awarded a $19,692,295 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-11-C-2301) to exercise options for special studies, analyses, review and class service efforts for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program.  This effort will assess engineering and production challenges and evaluate the cost and schedule risks from affordability efforts to reduce LCS acquisition and lifecycle costs.  Work will be performed in Mobile, Ala. (72 percent) and Pittsfield, Mass. (28 percent).  Work is expected to be complete by March 2013.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Research and Engineering Development, LLC*, Lexington Park, Md., is being awarded a $16,816,616 cost-plus-fixed-fee, performance-based contract to provide acquisition, engineering, analysis, development and integration services in support of irregular warfare efforts sponsored by the Naval Air Systems Command’s Human Systems Department (AIR-4.6).  The estimated level of effort for this contract is 154,906 man-hours.  Work will be performed in Patuxent River, Md., and is expected to be completed in September 2012.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  This contract was not competitively procured pursuant to FAR 6.302-1.  The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity (N00421-12-C-0029).

FLIR Systems, Inc., Wilsonville, Ore., is being awarded a $10,408,342 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract (N68335-11-C-0212) to exercise an option to procure 14 380-High Definition surveillance systems in support of the Persistent Ground Surveillance System Program that is currently fielded for the Army.  Work will be performed in Afghanistan (70 percent); and Yuma, Ariz. (30 percent); and is expected to be completed in April 2013.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, N.J. is the contracting activity.

AIR FORCE

Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, Linthicum Heights, Md. is being awarded an $87.8 million dollar firm fixed price contract a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program which will provide an AN/APG- 68 (V) 9 radar systems for the Royal Thai Air Force (6), the Republic of Iraq (22) and the Royal Air Force of Oman (15) for a total of 43 radar systems. The location of the performance is Linthicum Heights, Md.  Work is expected to be completed Mar. 31, 2015.  ASC/WWMK, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio is the contracting activity (FA8615-12-C-6047).
