The results are out from the DOD Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program on Gulf War Illness for the 2010 funded studies. These are the list of those studies that have passed the two panel review process. Details will come as they progress to actually getting the funding and getting set up to proceed. Sometimes that can take several months or more. Our congratulations to the researchers and their institutions for their applications to receive funding consideration.
Veterans this is the reason that your efforts to share with your state medical universities can make a difference. It helps to have gulf war veterans in their states to take in the VA RAC GWI reports and information on Gulf War illness. Encouragement is given to renew your efforts and to also share this information with your US Senators, US Representatives, your state law makers and your governor to get them involved and aware of the potential research grants that are open for competition.
The effort needs the veterans to speak up strongly with their US Senators and Representatives to continue and extend the funding from the Hill in DC to continue this effort. This is an urgent need that all should be involved in especially now with the tight money situation. It will be up to the Gulf War Veterans to keep this effort rolling. Stay alert for the next developments.
