Mark your calendars for the event of the year in support of our veterans and their families. 24 hr (virtual) telethon is the first of its kind 3 years running.

telethon poster-veteransPRLog – Flags Still Stands For Freedom has announced its 3rd annual “Veterans Day Telethon”. This virtual event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6th, 2010 for 24 hours to show support for our troops both past and present and is the only one of its kind for three years running using new media technology.

The show is dedicated to sharing memories and stories of our fallen soldiers, and to the service of men and women currently serving our country. The program will showcase the talents, successes and accomplishments of our veterans. American Legion Post 1066 will host the telethon live in Massapequa, NY.

An array of musical performers will donate their talents to the event, including:

  • The legendary and Grammy Award winning “Charlie Daniels
  • International songstress, “Leah DeVon” and executive producer and host of the Indie Style TV
  • Howie Vaughn, lead singer and songwriter for the “Coldwater Canyon Band
  • Grammy and Country Music Association Award nominee “Michael Peterson
  • Singer/songwriter and author, “Randy Hignight
  • Ambassadors of Goodwill and performers “The Dina Preston Band
  • Singer/Songwriter and the daughter of a veteran, “Kelly Trudell
  • Texas-born singer/songwriter, “Templeton Thompson
  • Lead singer and drummer of Rare Earth, “Peter Rivera
  • Dynamic recreation with “Waymore’s Outlaws
  • Platinum recording veterans “Little Texas

Founders, presidents and CEOs from over 53 organizations and businesses that promote veterans issues and support our veterans and their families will also be on hand LIVE during the telethon.

A number of award-winning authors will also be on hand to speak about their latest books. Among them will be:

  • Nancy E. Lynch, a Vietnam Era columnist and journalist who will discuss her award-winning social history, “Vietnam Mailbag – Voices From the War: 1968-1972.”
  • Navy veteran, John Quinn, author of “Someone Like Me” will share his story of challenge and triumph with cerebral palsy.
  • James Diehl, author and award winning journalist, will talk about his new documentary “Vanishing Voices of World War II – Southern Delaware’s Humble Heroes.”
  • Judy Pugh, military mother and author, will speak on her book “Reporting For Doodie” about caring for her grandchild when both parents were deployed.
  • Dan Smee and Shoba Sreenivasan, authors of “Totally American” which will inspire listeners to take charge of their lives.
  • Victoria L. Collier, founder of “The Elder & Disability Law Firm of Victoria L. Collier,” will discuss her new book, “47 Secret Veterans’ Benefits for Seniors.”
  • John Martini, a retired ranger, will talk about his book, “The Last Missile Site

The Flags Still Stands For Freedom Veterans Day Telethon is the only one of its kind to honor the service of our men and women to this country, both past and present, in what began as a radio talk show and has now exploded into a full-scale virtual telethon in classic style. This event uses new media technology which allows guests from across the nation to connect LIVE with our veterans and their families with just the press of a button.
