The search for the real story on the scientific paper published on Monday in the PNAS continues.  I have to, must refer all to an excellent article, the best I have seen that explains all the background information on this critical news making story that affect millions of people world wide!

Mindy Kitei is a rock star as far as I am concerned.  She has covered the breaking news on XMRV with indepth interviews with the scientists themselves and the background history of the CFIDS/ME that many of us have known and followed in detail in trying to find answers to these illnesses.

Yes I believe there are definite subsets of patients.  Yes I believe Gulf War Veterans ill since 1990 need to be urgently included in the subsets, in testing and the research now not later.  Rule us in or rule us out!

What about the veterans that were nondeployed that got ill?  They need to be included as a subgroup.

Yes I believe there are links to autoimmune illness, cancers, neurological degenerative conditions, and to other organs that are damaged that are costing us in lives lost to continued illnesses and to death!

Yes I believe that all of this will fall in to place.  How does this retrovirus affect the blood, circulation, oxygen utilization, neurocognitive problems, and so many of the body’s organ systems?

Why is hypercoagulation occurring?  Why are the veterans of the gulf war that were maybe 18-20 years old during Operation Desert Storm in 1990 dying of cardiac related conditions?  They are just 40 years old now!

Can we save some lives now??  Why are we seeing cancers increasing in this group of veterans?

I can give you a clue that might help now!  Ask your doctors to do a simple cost effective test that is available clinically now.  Have them draw an arterial blood gas and a venous sample at the same time.  Have them look at Oxygen in those two samples.  I will tell you what they might find, the arterial oxygen will show excellent arterial level of oxygenation but the venous oxygen level will show the real story!  Email me your results DSNurse1@yahoo.com

There is so much work to be done but in the meantime we need to save lives!

The VA needs to set up a WRIIS especially for gulf war veterans that are ill with undiagnosed illnesses, Gulf War illness, CFS, fibromyalgia at the following locations NOW:  Miami VA(Dr Klimas),  Salt Lake City, Utah(involve Dr Bateman), Minneapolis VA(Dr Bach), VA San Diego, CA(Dr Golumb).  Washington DC WRIIS must collaborate with DR Baraniuk(Georgetown University Hospital)

Translational Research -Medical Care units are a must and could be set up at the sites mentioned above.  WE absolutely need more funding into research on gulf war illness and Chronic Fatigue now based on the sheer numbers of those suffering right now.
