On Tuesday, August 31, 2010, President Obama will travel to Fort Bliss, Texas, where he will meet with troops.

The President will also address the nation on Iraq from the Oval Office at 8 p.m. EST.

Some 60 days out from the mid-term elections, the address offers the administration a chance to reconnect with its base, an anti-interventionist segment of the American population that has lately come to the conclusion that Obama has jettisoned them in exchange for an unclear agenda in service to unknown constituencies.

Look for the nationally televised speech to serve as an aggressive kick-off to the November elections as the Obama team delivers on its promise to get political.

The question remains open as to the president’s inclination to set the record straight on the lies that brought about this global catastrophe.
