FRIEND OF OUR VETERANS, AMERICAN SINGER SONGWRITER BRIAN JAY CLINE, RELEASES NEW ALBUM ‘NASHVILLE TRACKS’
by John P. Allen
Just received my advanced copy of singer songwriter Brian Jay Cline’s new album release "Nashville Tracks". You see, Brian Jay Cline is a great friend of our Veterans.
He has been sending us his Americana Country Roots Rock music for years and sharing it with all of us.
When I called Brian on the phone this week he said in his most humble sincere way "It’s my honor to play for our veterans anytime". Anyway, this is supposed to be a music review…so let’s get to it.
I personally have followed Brian’s career from his first of 7 albums to this last one and can tell you that his evolution has as an artist has been dramatic and exciting. Always hooky with a roots rock sound, Brian has expanded into a more twang influenced country sound with fun romantic themes like STUCK ON YOU and the very innocent SWEETHEARTS MOON mixed in with very mature political statement song about our current economic recession in ROAD TO RUIN.
Brian has a unique and very special knack for songs that express a "Boy with a thorn in his side", a kind of lovesick perspective that envokes the romantic in all us as we struggle through trying to be super tough when in reality our heart bleeds for the one we love. Brian expressed that feeling again here on Nashville Tracks with songs like LOST and LAST CHANCE.
Oh, Brian always gives us a few "one for the road" tunes that get us on the road feeling good. With RAVE UP, SOMETHING NEW, and MAKE TRACKS, we are on our way. So turn up these tunes in your car, start driving, and singing because we need to "Say goodbye to the past and head out to something new"
Finally, Brian’s new release gives us the very unique LYING AT THE SPEED OF SOUND and TALK OF THE TOWN, a personal favorite.
With LYING AT THE SPEED OF SOUND he delves into the broken hearted boy who’s been jilted by an opportunistic scorned women without scruples who’s taken it all from Brian, leaving him left holding the bag – unique, powerful, and slightly sad in a way only Brian can express.
With TALK OF THE TOWN, his lyric "Here comes trouble in a some tight blue jeans…." just spoke to me and reminded me of that girl I know from high school…..you probably know her too! Yep, she’s the one that turned our heads. Yep, we just didn’t know what to do or say because she was the Talk of the Town. Remember her? Me too! Ouch, I still love her! But darnit, she was untouchable for us, the average joe, right?
And that’s Brian Jay Cline…..he’s writing for us and we love it!
