DESERT STORM TAPS JUNE 09

In Memory of all Desert Storm Veterans that have left us too soon after our war Desert Storm 90-91.  These are the ones I find through paid obituary searches.  We are ASKING again for a full PUBLIC INTERNET REGISTRY to Include, Name, AGE, Unit, Cause of Death and KEPT CURRENT.  Seems that the VA could at least do that to honor our veterans of Desert STORM 90-91.  IF NOT THEN –MEMBERS OF CONGRESS INTRODUCE A BILL NOW.

1. Wallace Barry Ward, 57,SC, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center–He was an aircraft mechanic for F-16’s at McEntire Air National Guard Station –He was retired from the Air National Guard as a Senior Master Sergeant with 32 years of military service and served in Operation Desert Shield/Storm

2. Jan Frederic Peters, 60,FL, was taken on June 1, 2009.  U.S. Army, served with distinction around the world and saw combat in Vietnam and the first Gulf War.

1.Wallace Barry Ward 
JONESVILLE – Wallace Barry Ward, 57, formerly of Columbia, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 25, 1952, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Robert William and Betty Rochester Ward of Jonesville and the husband of 36 years to Robin Arrington Ward. He was an aircraft mechanic for F-16’s at McEntire Air National Guard Station and a member of Beulah Baptist Church of Hopkins, SC. He was retired from the Air National Guard as a Senior Master Sergeant with 32 years of military service and served in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. His awards and decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal w/1 device, Air Force Achievement Medal, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/M device, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/1 device, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal w/7 devices, Air Force Longevity Service Award w/5 devices, National Defense Service Medal w/1 device, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/2 devices, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/Valor and 3 devices, Kuwait Liberation Medal (SA), Kuwait Liberation medal (K), South Carolina Exceptional Service Medal, South Carolina Meritorious Service Medal, the Active State Service Medal, and the Guardmen’s Retirement Medal.

Surviving in addition to his parents and wife are two sons, Chris Ward of Greer, and Jason Ward of Aiken; a daughter, Jennifer Ward of Nashville, TN; a granddaughter, Caroline Ward; three grandsons, Noah, Jeremiah, and Ryder Ward; two brothers, Ricky Ward and Robert Ward; and two sisters, Debra Ward Easler and Donna Ward Foster.  Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Robert M. Wofford and the Rev. Patricia McCain. 2.  Jan Frederic Peters  
Jan Frederic Peters Jan Frederic Peters, 60, was taken by our Almighty Father on June 1, 2009. Jan was a fifth-generation Floridian, whose ancestors came to Florida during the second Seminole Wars. Born in Miami and raised in Hialeah, he graduated from Hialeah High School in 1966. Soon after, he settled on a career with the U.S. Army, served with distinction around the world and saw combat in Vietnam and the first Gulf War. After the military, Jan began a second career with the Florida Department of Corrections. Jan has been described by many as a great friend and a good guy. As a kind and generous person, Jan loved his family and was particularly devoted to his children. He was extremely proud of their accomplishments. Jan is survived by his mother, Valda, of Sebring; brother, Michael (Margie) of Tallahassee; his children, Jason, Morgana and Mason of Germany; his only granddaughter, Eve, of Germany; his nephews, Michael and John of Tallahassee, Fla.; and his life-long friend, Mike O’Steen of Hialeah. Jan’s toughest fight in life was his 17 year battle with the consequences of his military experiences which contributed to his early passing. Jan now enjoys eternal peace never again to be haunted by the ghosts of the jungle or the demons of the desert. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at the Dowden Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. EDT on June 4, 2009, in Sebring, Fla., with the family receiving friends from 10:30 a.m. to the time of service. The Reverend Darrell Peer will officiate. Inurnment will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Dowden Funeral Home, Sebring, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
