NC-based paratroopers to honor combat wounded

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Paratroopers from the North Carolina-based 82nd Airborne Division are preparing for a jump in Texas to honor troops wounded in combat.

The paratroopers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team will jump Friday morning at Victoria, Tex., Regional Airport. The Fayetteville Observer reported that the jump is part of the Warrior’s Weekend event.

The weekend event is centered at Port O’Conner, Tex., and features free fishing for about 200 wounded troops on Saturday.

Ron Kocian, a co-chairman for the event, said about 5,000 people showed up to last year’s event
