Forward to the Past
by Rich Carroll
The “WHOOSH” you hear regularly is the air escaping from Washington’s ideological promiscuity bag. The Socialist Party now has control of both floors. Politicians of both parties, propagandists, poets, global warming hypocrites and “human rights” impersonators are all plugged into the same cultural grid, which somehow has its main power source in all of our pockets. American citizenry, harboring some worrisome questions about the state of the Republic and sick of wildly divergent and often antagonistic political maneuvering, and war, voted Democrat.
Historians and commentators will look back with the advantage of hindsight, their most compelling intellectual asset and come away with the conclusion American society found itself knee deep in values witnessing William Clinton slide into the status of villain, and crystallizing on a note of sobriety when three hijacked airliners crashed into the sides of our tallest buildings and the world's bastion of military power. Historians will also note the "war with Iraq" was really the "war with Islam" but no one had the guts to say it. This vital distinction will have monumental consequences for the future from which we may look back and think "shoulda, woulda, coulda…"
Almost six years ago the bemused indifference of our populace was slapped up side the head with a ring of common sense. Bill Clinton and his ilk slipped away behind a trap door to another adventure of inconsistency. A Republican president would soon inherit national (and global) turmoil resulting from an act of terrorism an envious Muslim world spent eight years hatching, and soldiers, always the target of nasty picket signs, suddenly became Democrats pet "concern." Our global enemy realized many Americans, soft from a non-participatory, complacent existence, see the cost of war as something that steals from their wished-for free entitlements. Other citizens, in the mean time, have shifted their eyes in keen search of morals, values, and judgement, realizing American history has a semi functional quality of an imposed plot line. Our nation is split…
America is in search of heroes, even if that means gobbling up books and tapes on our nation’s past heroes; John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and any number of our founding fathers. American’s realized we, as a nation, have spent fifty years segregating ourselves into a bewildering variety of racial, ethnic, gender and class categories, all defending our respective territories under the multicultural "diversity" banner, instead of grasping those few precious plots of common ground on which we can come together as Americans. 9-11 provided that plot, which is not common ground at all, but a midair location floating above the battle lines of a nation headed in the opposite direction of our founders. In this space we become an American chorus instead of an American cacophony. This is not the nation that stood in long lines on December 8, 1941 because Japan had the audacity to attack our military outpost six thousand miles away in the Pacific. This is the nation who stood wringing their hands and asked "What did we do to make them so mad at us?" We became weak in part to weak leadership. We lost our anger. We lost, in 60 years, respect for our freedom and the fact freedom is not free.
Supporting our President at the voting booth was a very positive sign that the flame ignited on July 4, 1776, has spread too far and burns too brightly to be extinguished by Muslim fanatics or the ‘traveling humanities tent show’ of Clinton and his consigliore wife. So some thought.
Neither party can continue to live on extravagant enthusiasm. We agrarian values voters want results. Our pulse is feeding a throbbing headache caused by terrorism, security, a porous border, war, health care, jobs, and third-world education results. Equivocating politicians address none of these pressing issues. Now is the time for our elected leaders to stop wasting time “bickering”; it’s time for the home team to go to work and knock heads.
America clicked into full consciousness one cold November evening and clogged the polls with patriotic pageantry. We want an end to “excuses”. Americans want you to read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States and take it to heart. Appoint judges who uphold those ideals for “we the people” and stop twisting through created loopholes to protect special interest lobbyists.
Voters want an end to gargantuan waste, and they want their tax dollars used to help THEM before being so freely distributed to despots, tyrants, anti-American nations and anti-establishment special interest groups.
America wants our military paid for the work they do, and a stop to wasting billions paying those who hover “around” the military and do nothing. We want our military back under men like Patton who was far more concerned with killing enemies of our great nation than being politically correct.
Americans want our fellow citizens fed, clothed and educated before spending OUR money on another nation’s citizens to be fed, clothed, and educated.
American’s want justice back, and a keener sense of conservative values that does not include allowing Hollywood communists to sleep in the same bed as our founding forefathers or pandering to a culture that makes their intentions very clear that we must convert or die. We want elected officials who have a burning desire to reaffirm the official language of America is English.
We want straight talking answers and not glossed-over complex problems with felicitous language. Most of all, we want the TRUTH. Benevolent “head patting” is over. Emotion has shifted from "let's help THEM" to "let's get OURSELVES back on track."
We sit at the center of a world at war, growing closer to our shores each day, and await the appearance of strong men who will lead with a sense of truth and justice no matter how “bad” it sounds. We need men with bottomless hope who are more concerned with getting the job done and less concerned with making waves. The era of ‘Democratic enlightenment’ is over and we, as a nation, are no longer at odds with what values and direction we want to see.
Someone, step up to the plate and take us back in the direction from which we came…back to our past when the designers of this country held steadfast in their beliefs we would not squander our greatest asset; that being the strength of a ‘united’ people. Step up and rekindle those great men who gave every ounce of their soul and never considered caving in to heel snapping lobbyists or minor special agenda groups with a small axe to grind. We need men of action, men of integrity, men of justice, brave men, men who will make decisions no matter how tough. Where are you? We are waiting…take us back to our past with your presence.
